Decided to start blogging. Been parking a number of domains, and it seemed like the right time to get some use out of one of them.
I am a 44 year old husband and father of two great (but young - 6 and 3 years old) kids.
I retired from the Navy in 2009, after about 13 years of active service, and 7 years of reserve service, as a submarine officer. Stayed in long enough to promote to Commander, but then hung up my sword and shield. Needless to say, I won't ever make Captain, hence the semi-humorous title of the blog.
I work in the Oil & Gas industry in Houston (don't we all?), and am about to make a career transition, which will likely spawn a number of future posts as I discuss the various aspects of the job, policy, regulation, etc. I come across in the (uncertain?) future.
I am not as witty or insightful as others are or have been, but perhaps over time whatever I decide to place here will improve to the point that others will read it.
My inspiration is the late, great Neptunus Lex, who would have celebrated a birthday yesterday if he hadn't been suddenly taken away from us late last year. Never met the man, but in his writings one can understand the kind of person he was, and he had incredible influence over so many of us.
Watch this space!
